Superior by Mark Millar

Publisher’s blurb

Ollie Janson had it all going for him – plenty of friends at school, good looks, and his coach called him one of the most talented basketball players he’s ever seen. But that was when he could still move his legs.
Now he’s living with multiple sclerosis, missing all the little things he used to take for granted, and escaping into the world of movies and comics with his best friend. Then… SUPERIOR entered his life.
The newest smash graphic novel from MARK MILLAR and LEINIL FRANCIS YU is sure to be the most talked-about book of the year!

  1. First Impression
The front cover looks very interesting, as you don’t normally associate children in wheelchairs with superheroes. The blurb made me want to read more.

I really enjoyed reading this comic. I found the story very interesting and there were parts that I really didn’t see coming. I would reccomend this to anyone who enjoys reading comic books.

  2. First impressions: There is some really good artwork on the front cover and the blurb is intreguing. Huge props to Millar and Yu. Is the rest of the book as good as the artwork and blurb? In a word, yes.

A really good read, had me gripped until the end. Superior is your typical superhero with a extraordinary twist. The final battle in the Manhattan skyline is a very well written and well drawn piece of storyline, and, as with all superhero stories, the happy ending for all.

Great book, with a lot of positives to say about it. If you like this sort of book, your cravings will be satisfied here.

  3. I’m not sure I’m qualified to review a graphic novel , this is the first one I have read. I did cringe a bit at the illustrations of the main female character, talk about stereotyping! The storyline, however, is quite good but slightly predictable, the twist at the end makes up for the story up to that point. In fact at first I was skimming through the book and jumped to the last few pages, those made me turn back to the beginning to get the whole picture! Definitely an S3-s4 title and if you like comic superheroes you will love this.

  4. At first I thought the book looked plain and simple but from what I have read so far it is very interesting and the plot comes together quite well. I would recommend the book to boys of my age who enjoy action books and comics.

  5. I find this book very exciting and an action packed read. I have never read a graphic novel before but really enjoyed this. The illustrations were smashing.

  6. Superior was as the title says, Superior. It was one of the best graphic novels I’ve read.

  7. I don’t normallly enjoy graphic novels but right from the title I was drawn to this book. I thouroughly enjoyed the parts I read of Superioir.
